Complaint claims sheriff wore uniform while campaigning

The King County Sheriff might face sanctions for simply wearing his uniform.
A Seattle attorney has filed two ethics complaints against Sheriff Steve Strachan for campaigning for office while wearing his uniform. That’s a violation of both state law and county ethics rules.
Strachan is running to serve the one-year remaining on former sheriff Sue Rahr’s term.
The complaints cite photos of Strachan in uniform on his campaign website and Facebook page.
According to SeattlePI.com, the complaints also say Strachan wore his uniform at a GOP picnic in July.
The sheriff says he wore the uniform because that was one of three events to which he was invited to appear as sheriff that day.
The King County Ombudsman and the State Public Disclosure Commission are investigating.
