Seattle minister admits to child rape

Sep 14, 2012, 6:24 AM | Updated: 7:16 am

A former Seattle minister and musician who worked for several youth-oriented organizations has pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including child rape and child molestation.

Detectives say the abuse came to light when a 21-year-old man went to his minister and reported that ten years earlier he had been molested by Timothy Dampier, a musician hired by the church.

Dampier, 36, was also a foster parent and worked at group homes, a Boys and Girls Club, and at Seattle Parks and Recreation, among other agencies.

At first, Dampier admitted only to what he called “playful touching.” But Thursday, he pleaded guilty to 22 charges involving ten victims, ranging in age from nine to 17-years-old.

King County prosecutors want him sent to prison for 22 years when Dampier is sentenced on October 12.
