Man at door throws liquid in Olympia judge’s face

Police in Olympia are looking for a man who attacked a judge with a mystery liquid at his home Monday night.

Officers say someone rang the doorbell between 9:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. at the home of Judge Brett Buckley, the presiding judge for Thurston County District Court. The man at the door then threw an unknown liquid in the judge’s face before running off.

At first, the judge had no reaction to the liquid but later went to a hospital with skin irritation. Samples of the liquid are being analyzed. It is unclear whether the liquid was toxic or just something nasty or smelly.

The judge gave a description of his attacker to police, but said he could not think of any recent case he heard that might prompt such an attack.

The man is described as being 20 to 30-years-old, around six feet tall, with a dark complexion and black hair.
