A relief flight stocked with $3.5 million worth of emergency medical supplies is scheduled to fly out of Seattle-Tacoma International Airport on Monday evening, providing aid to Ukraine during Russia’s ongoing invasion of the Eastern European nation.

The flight is being spearheaded by Nova Ukraine, in tandem with Stanford University’s Ukrainian Student Association and the Ukrainian Association of Washington State (UAWS). Cargo will include surgical supplies, “medical machines,” gauze and bandages, arterial lines, and sterile syringes.

Materials will be loaded into the plane this evening, with the flight set to take off at 6 p.m. Gov. Jay Inslee and Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell will be among those in attendance, along with representatives from Nova Ukraine, the UAWS, and other community organizations.

This comes amid a ramping up of efforts in Washington to streamline aid to Ukraine, with Lieutenant Governor Denny Heck launching a new web portal last week with details on how to contribute to both the UAWS and Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Several other organizations in Washington have similarly been organizing aid to the country, including the Ukrainian Community Center of Washington, Lutheran Community Services Northwest, and First Ukrainian Baptist Church among others.
