Teen finds loaded gun in Samish Park lake

A teenager playing in the shallow area of a swimming beach at Samish Park stubbed his toe, but that’s not the news. When he reached down to see what he stepped on, he picked up a handgun.
The Whatcom County Sheriff thinks the loaded 9 millimeter gun was tossed into the water during a gang fight Sunday, two days before it was found.
Witnesses said rival gang members from Skagit County were flashing gang signs when a fight broke out involving about 20 people.
One teenager waved a gun and made threats before he was chased into the lake and threw away the gun.
The kid eventually ran into a nearby house, but didn’t find any help. He was stopped by a homeowner, with a gun and was later arrested.
