Snohomish County judge to rule on Aaron Reardon recall

A judge in Everett is scheduled to hear arguments Tuesday before deciding if a recall petition targeting Snohomish County Executive Aaron Reardon can go forward.

The judge will not rule on the merits of the petition, but rather if it meets state recall requirements and can move on to the signature gathering phase, according to the Everett Herald.

The petition filed by a Gold Bar attorney claims Reardon violated state campaign laws by using public resources for political fundraising.

Reardon was the subject of a State Patrol investigation. A special prosecutor recently concluded that there was not enough evidence for a criminal charge against Reardon in connection to allegations he spent public funds on a girlfriend during a trip on county business to Chicago in 2010.
