Rain moves out of area… for the moment

If there was any doubt that autumn was here, today should’ve solved that.

The morning rain has moved out of the area for the most part.

We’ll see partly cloudy skies with some sun until Sunday.

The National Weather Service (NWS) tweeted this morning, “The break will be short. The Pacific is reloading and a dose of potentially heavy rain will arrive Saturday night and Sunday.”

High winds roar through the Pacific NW

The rain had an impact on the morning commute, streets were flooding.

Most of the rain overnight was in Everett northward, but Seattle quickly caught up.

Shelton and Gig Harbor have been hard by the rain.

KIRO 7 meteorologist Nick Allard said, “The rain was truly a morning event.”

Allard said a cold front is bringing precipitation.

Since midnight, Everett has seen nearly a half inch of rain. Around the rest of the area, Allard said we’ll see a quarter to three-quarters of an inch of rain.

Urban flooding is a problem especially because of clogged drains. The biggest problems were on the side streets.

Allard said we’ll be in the mid-50s today with partly sunny skies and mainly dry conditions.

“Saturday looks mainly dry with some sunshine along with some clouds. Mainly rain-free conditions make for good times to be outside at the pumpkin patch or to take some fall photos with the colorful leaves still around. There could be a few showers closer to the Canadian border, but overall we will be more dry than wet. Highs will be in the upper 50s in Seattle,” Allard said.

“On Sunday, another wet and windy weather system approaches, and it looks to be very similar to today! The wind should start to pick up a bit Saturday night with increasing rainy and breezy weather on Sunday. It should be pretty wet for the Hawks game! Expect stronger winds (like today’s values) up north and at the north coast. By Sunday evening, it’ll be raining most areawide and possibly heavy too. Snow levels will be well above the passes.”
