Police think serial killer could be at work in Bremerton

Police in Bremerton think a brazen killer is prowling their streets. Investigators are working on the theory that the same man might have killed two women and attacked a man in the last nine months.
“At the time of the attacks, all the victims were walking on the sidewalk in areas with very high vehicle and pedestrian traffic,” said Bremerton Police Lieutenant Peter Fisher. “We believe the suspect followed all three victims and all three victims were attacked from behind.”
Lt. Fisher says Sara Burke, 19, was stabbed to death last May and Melody Brannon killed February 3. Kenny Cobb, 51, was attacked last June and survived.
The attacker is described as slender, 6-foot tall, light-skinned black or mixed-race man, possibly in his late teens or early 20s with a blemish that could be a mole or other mark near his nose or lip.
Police have increased patrols, posted sketches of a suspect and are warning neighbors in the areas of the attacks.
“Try not to walk alone, if you can avoid that, and we encourage people to carry a whistle or a high decibel personal alarm so they can summon aid in case they get into trouble and we also suggest that they carry a cell phone so they can call 911,” said Fisher.
A $10,000 reward is offered for information that helps solves these cases.
