‘Light the World’ Giving Machines makes way to Bellevue

Think of it as another way to bring hope to the less fortunate over the holidays.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is sponsoring the Light the World Giving Machines at Bellevue Downtown Park. Bellevue Mayor Lynne Robinson and others appeared at the grand opening ceremony Tuesday afternoon.

The Light The World Giving Machine is coming to Bellevue

The machines are a unique way of giving with the focus on purchasing food, clothing, fresh water, and medicine.

With the swipe of a debit or credit card, people can purchase items for people in need and the funds go local and around the world.

So far, the global campaign has raised $15 million for local and global charities.

During the 2022 Christmas season, Light the World Giving Machines are in 24 cities worldwide. The Greater Seattle Giving Machines will feature items from these local and global nonprofit organizations:

  • International Rescue Committee of Washington (IRC)
  • Shared Hope international (Western Washington – Anti-Trafficking)
  • Salvation Army (Northwest Division)
  • Ronald McDonald House (Washington & Alaska)
  • World Food Programme
  • UNICEF
  • Mentor’s International
