Gary Johnson may prove to be too healthy to be president

The presidential campaign over these last few days — with all this talk about pneumonia, blood pressure, and triglycerides — reminds me of lunch conversations at my Mom’s assisted living residence.
Which is why it was refreshing to hear this guy on CSPAN.
“I will be the fittest president of the United States ever,” Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson said.

Johnson was in Detroit talking not about his health, but about shaking up healthcare.
He’d create a system where private medical franchises … would make everyday medical care as routine as a haircut.
“We would have Stitches-R-Us, we would have Gallbladders-R-Us … We would have advertised pricing with advertised outcomes.”
And Johnson predicts competition would make that routine care so cheap, you’d only need insurance for the big stuff, what he calls “catastrophic injury.”
“We would pay as you go in a system that I’m going to guess would cost about one-fifth of what it currently costs,” he explained.
I have no idea if he can actually deliver on that promise. But as for having the stamina to give it a shot, he probably has what it takes.
“Next June I’m planning to Ride the Divide, which is a 3,000-mile mountain bike race across the continental divide from Banff, [Alberta] Canada to Antelope Wells, New Mexico,” he announced.
Actually, I think he may be too healthy to be president.
