Lake Washington High School evacuated its students and faculty Friday, KIRO Newsradio confirmed, due to a bomb threat. The school was closed for the rest of the day.

Students and staff who were already on campus were ushered to the school’s football field. All other students and staff who didn’t arrive were told not to come.

“We take all threats to the safety of our students, staff and school seriously. Before school this morning, a call was made to our school office informing us that there was a bomb in one of our restrooms,” the Lake Washington School District stated. “Administrators immediately evacuated the school and contacted 911. Kirkland Police responded immediately, and all restrooms were locked.”

The Kirkland Police Department conducted a full search of the entire building, investigating the source of this threat.

“Due to the time required to complete the search and the fact that many students and staff never made it onto school campus today, our ability to hold school today is extremely limited,” the Lake Washington School District continued.
