‘You ruined my life’: New details released about stabbing of Kirkland mother and daughter

Sep 10, 2025, 11:48 AM | Updated: 11:49 am

A Kirkland woman who survived more than 40 stab wounds earlier this month had accused her attacker of sexual assault just hours before the violence, according to court documents.

The woman told investigators the man said, “You ruined my life because you called the police,” before stabbing her with a knife. Her 78-year-old mother was also attacked and died from her injuries.

The suspect, Fardin Salehiyan, 60, faces charges of murder and attempted murder and is scheduled to appear in court Friday morning.

The attack happened Sept. 4 at the Kirkland Heights Apartments, in the 13400 block of N.E. 132nd Street, according to police.

“This is certainly a shock,” Kirkland Police Sgt. Eric Karp told KIRO Newsradio. “So, it’s very traumatic to the neighbors. You know, completely unexpected. This is definitely out of the ordinary.”

Prosecutors want his bail set at $10,000,000.

“If the defendant is willing to commit murder in order to avoid facing justice, he would certainly be willing to flee,” prosecutors said in court documents. “There is also a substantial likelihood that the defendant will commit a future violent offense, and in particular, he poses a serious danger to the surviving victim. In this case, he stabbed the deceased victim 17 times and the surviving victim dozens of times.”
