‘Give them the dang money’: Gee backs SPD raise

Oct 27, 2025, 5:15 AM | Updated: 5:16 am

Seattle police officers are poised to see a significant pay boost under a new four-year contract between the city and the Police Officers Guild.

“Give them the dang money,” Gee said. “I’m not against the police. And we’re talking about the city of Seattle. I’d argue that when it comes to activity, the city of Seattle has a lot of activity.”

During a segment on The Gee and Ursula Show on KIRO Newsradio, co-host Gee Scott emphasized his support for the deal.

The contract also includes retroactive raises for 2024 and additional increases through 2027. Once the agreement is fully implemented, a rookie with about a year and a half on the job could earn around $132,000 annually, not including overtime or bonuses.

In addition to salary increases, the agreement expands the city’s care team—civilian crisis responders who handle certain 911 calls that do not require police officers. Supporters argue that the raises will help Seattle attract and retain officers in one of the country’s most expensive cities.
