Two children were returned home to their mother after an alleged kidnapping took place in Cle Elum Friday night.
The Monroe Police Department was initially responding to a domestic violence incident when the department called for assistance from both the Cle Elum Police Department and the Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office in response to a reported kidnapping.
The Monroe Police Department believed two children were kidnapped by an adult male near Cle Elum. As the department was about to issue an Amber Alert, officers with the Cle Elum Police Department and a deputy with the Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office found the two children in the suspect’s vehicle.
The kids were found unharmed and were returned to their mother.
“Both children were unharmed but had to be provided with food, diapers (purchased by a deputy), and warm clothing,” the Cle Elum Police Department stated in a social media post. “Thank you to KCSO [Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office] for their help with resolving this incident, which fortunately had a successful outcome.”
The suspect was arrested and placed into custody after he was processed for a DUI.
