Pierce County deputies arrest 2 teens linked to armed home burglary

Pierce County Sheriff’s deputies and the Washington State Patrol (WSP) arrested two teens in a stolen car early Monday morning.

Deputies discovered the teens may also be responsible for an armed home burglary that was caught on surveillance video.

WSP first spotted a stolen Chevy Malibu near the town of Roy. Two teens, ages 17 and 19, fled the car on foot to avoid arrest but were immediately captured.

“Both had firearms on their person when they were taken into custody, as well as there were visible firearms in the Malibu,” Pierce County Deputy Carly Cappetto said.

The guns in the car are believed to have been stolen.

Teens linked to burglary through home surveillance video

Deputies said the teens were linked to the burglary through the home surveillance video.

“When they are approaching that home, they have those firearms in their hands while they’re breaking out the back window and entering into that home,” Cappetto explained.

The teens are expected to be charged with burglary, possession of a stolen vehicle, and unlawful possession of firearms.

The investigation is ongoing. More charges are possible.
