The Seattle Police Department (SPD) is investigating a shooting near the intersection of 23rd Avenue S. and S. Dearborn Street in Seattle’s Atlantic neighborhood.

Detective Brian Prichard told KIRO 7 that the department received reports of multiple gunshots heard near the area shortly after 7 pm.

When officers arrived at the scene, Prichard said they found evidence of the shooting. A nearby house was also hit on 24th Avenue S., but no injuries have been reported.

Police briefly closed nearby roads to investigate the scene. The roads reopened shortly after 8 pm.

Shortly after the shooting, a man arrived at a nearby hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg. Police were able to confirm that he was shot near the incident. Prichard said he remains in serious condition.

Prichard said police saw multiple SUVs leaving the scene but that the department has not identified a suspect vehicle.

According to the department, detectives with SPD’s Gun Violence Reduction Unit will be investigating the cause of the shooting.
