To help vulnerable students achieve academic success, the Whitehorse Foundation has granted $240,000 to the Foundation for Edmonds School District, My Edmonds News reported.

The funds will support the foundation’s Whole Families, Whole Communities initiative for the Edmonds School District. Specifically, the funds will enable the foundation to expand Student Wellness, an afterschool program, from its original location at Alderwood Middle School to a second site at College Place Middle School, according to the My Edmonds News article.

The expanded program will serve 50 students each week and will provide academic support, mentorship, leadership development, social-emotional learning, and individualized mental health and family support.

Through WFWC, students and families also have access to additional support, such as summer meals, financial-literacy education, school snacks, weekend meal kits, pop-up pantries, health screenings, career coaching, and connections to community resources.

Whole Families, Whole Communities is expected to serve about 500 students and families during the 2026–27 school year, the article said.
