International Dog Day may fall on Aug. 26, but Staypineapple, a national boutique hotel brand with local locations known for its dog-friendly accommodations, is giving pups a full week to celebrate. From Aug. 24-30, the company is hosting Bark Week, a series of dog-focused events and charitable efforts benefiting Bellevue’s Seattle Humane.
Throughout the week, Staypineapple is donating 100% of pet fees from qualifying reservations to Seattle Humane. Guests and community members can also drop off unopened pet food and treats at the brand’s Seattle hotels — The Maxwell Hotel, Hotel FIVE, Watertown Hotel, and University Inn — and receive a free pineapple dog toy while supplies last.
The week will conclude on Aug. 29 with Bark to School, a free event at The Maxwell Hotel from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., where owners can have their dogs pose for school-themed Polaroid photos, get their portraits drawn, and enjoy coloring sheets featuring adoptable Seattle Humane dogs. Seattle Humane will also be on site with information about adoptable pets and community resources.
“We’ve been proud to support Seattle Humane for many years, and Bark Week gives us an opportunity to take that support even further while celebrating our furry guests and helping animals who are still waiting for their forever homes,” Dina Belon, president of Staypineapple, said in a release.
