A man accused of stabbing a King County Sheriff’s deputy in Shoreline last week has been formally charged after being released from jail on $25,000 bail.
Daniel McCullough, 35, faces second-degree assault and felony harassment charges.
Deputy suffered arm wound while arresting McCullough
McCullough, who was living in a bus, threatened to slit a Shoreline store manager’s throat on Oct. 30 if the bus was towed, according to court documents.
“The manager of the Thriftway Market (20150 Ballinger Way NE, Shoreline, WA 98155) placed a note on the privately owned bus belonging to Daniel McCullough that had been parked in the business parking lot for three to four days,” the documents stated. “[The] note asked for Daniel to come into the store and talk to him about the bus and getting it moved.”
The manager explained that the property owner would have the bus towed if it was not moved immediately, according to the documents.
“After hearing this, Daniel became ‘irate’ and threatened to kill [the manager], stating that if they towed his bus, he would kill [the manager], threatening to slit [the manager’s] throat,” documents stated. “Daniel was aggressive as he made this threat, screaming in [the manager’s] face.”
Suspect released on $25,000 bail after deputy injured during arrest
During McCullough’s arrest, the deputy suffered a cut to his left arm along the bicep between the elbow and shoulder.
“The cut did not penetrate deep beneath the skin but drew blood and bruising and is approximately 3 to 5 inches in length,” the documents stated. “[The deputy] stated that Daniel continued to strike him after he tackled him as if he still had the knife.”
McCullough posted $25,000 bail and was released the day after his arrest. Prosecutors had asked that his bail be set at $75,000.
McCullough is set to be arraigned on Thursday.
