Listen to Dave Ross Commentary: Another economic milestone
It looks like THIS will be the month that the total national debt finally equals everything the United States produces in a year. Close to $15 TRILLION or 100 percent of GDP.
That’s only on paper, but still a sobering milestone, which reminds us yet again that NOTHING’s WORKING.
Hey — what about Congress’s 12 member Supercommittee — you guys are close to a budget fix, right?
“I remain encouraged that the members of the joint select committee know how serious the situation is,” says Jeb Hensarling.
OK, that’s a start…but meantime out here in this economic reality show, we’re starting to see boarded up homes in the SUBURBS, which is where we all moved to avoid that kind of thing.
On the plus side, it’s easier than ever to find a haunted house this Halloween, but we seem to be no closer to fixing the problem. Nobody can agree on what would actually work, except to do the opposite of what Greece has been doing. Everybody there is apparently either on disability or a 16 hour lunch break.
I am ready just to REBATE all the income tax money BACK to the states, and just let each legislature decide what works. The red states would refund the money to the taxpayers, who would build highways with tent revivals and bake sales; the blue states would expand the government and give everybody a master’s degree in gender studies, we’d let it all simmer for five years, and then we’d all start moving to the more prosperous states.
Or maybe we’d all just move to Greece. That lunch break sounds pretty good.
