Is it possible to smart your way out of the running?

The theme of today’s debate coverage is whether Mitt Romney or Rick Perry created the most jobs when they were governors.

Not mention of THIS guy:

“As Governor of Utah, we were the number one job creator in my years of serving.”

huntsman

That’s Jon Huntsman, former Governor of Utah.

When the subject of trade with China came up, he pointed out in 1984 he traveled to China WITH Ronald Reagan;

“He went on TV and he spoke to the Chinese people. I’d love to do that too, in Chinese itself.”

Yes — Huntsman actually speaks the official language of the world’s most populous country.

“Speak to me in Mandarin.”… and Huntsman did.

He also believes in the science behind climate change and evolution:

“In order for the Republican Party to win, we can’t run from science.”

He was the only one to point out that the real immigration problem isn’t too much ILLEGAL immigration, it’s too little LEGAL immigration:

“If we want to lift real estate values, for example, why is it that Vancouver is the fastest growing real estate market in the world today? They allow immigrants in legally and it lifts all boats. We need to focus as much on legal immigration.”

And on the subject of reducing gas prices to $2, only he dared to talk about the REAL price of gasoline:

“When you add up the cost of troop deployments, when you add up the cost of keeping ceilings open, it’s $13 a gallon, so says the Milken Institute.”

But this is only time you’ll hear any of that on the news. Because Jon Huntsman has no chance, and we can’t waste time on him. He’s the guy who goes in for that job interview with a ten-page resume, and the only opening is for a burger flipper.

GOP consultant and analyst Chris Vance tells Dave there are two reason Huntsman won’t work out.

“There are other people with the same resume. There are other governors and former governors. He sort of purposely labeled himself as the moderate, therefore the conservatives immediately dismiss him.”

Ross: Voters weren’t just voting for change, they were voting for a hormone

The more I read the post-election analysis, the more I’m convinced voters weren’t just voting for a change – they were voting for a hormone.
