Iconic Seattle restaurant saved just in time

Dec 28, 2016, 12:35 PM | Updated: 1:08 pm

An iconic Seattle eatery has been saved from oblivion thanks to an 11th-hour effort by a new management group.

The Puget Sound Business Journal reports the Queen City Grill, which had been in serious trouble with it’s landlord, has been bought up by G & M Restaurants. The company owns several restaurants in Seattle already.

G & M is co-run by former Queen City employee Trevor Greenwood, who told the Business Journal that, “Everyone is happy … it’s a win-win situation.”

The Grill has been serving out award-winning food for the last 30 years. It was scheduled to close Jan. 2.

In a statement published on Wednesday, the Plymouth Housing Group said it worked hard to find a compromise as the grill neared the end of its lease.

“This is a real win/win,” Executive Director Paul Lambros said. “Plymouth strives to have high quality, locally owned businesses in our ground-floor retail spaces. We’re proud that this transition will ensure that Queen City Grill can serve future generations of Belltown customers.”
