Trust us: This cartoon bear is not out to get your kids.

The so called “Pedobear” started as an internet joke, when someone in the underground web community 4CHAN took a Japanese cartoon and put it in situations suggesting that it’s a predator and/or pedophile.

But law enforcement in some communities don’t get the joke, and are using news organizations like this one to warn parents of this so-called threat.

UPDATE: KASA in New Mexico seems to have taken its Pedobear story offline. Either that, or the organization is having server issues. Gawker has the original TV report here.
