Take a deep breath, and then get ready to hold it come Monday morning when a smoky haze settles in over Western Washington — again.
“I think we will return to hazy conditions this weekend,” said KIRO 7 meteorologist Nick Allard. “I think we will go right back into it again.”
“We have (a wildfire) in the Cascades,” Allard said. “Most of that smoke is being pushed north, northeast. A lot of this smoke (drifting into Seattle) is coming in from Oregon as it has been for the past few days.”

The August air in Western Washington has been filled with a heavy haze from wildfires in British Columbia, Washington and Oregon. Smoky air moved through the region earlier this week. Wind moved that haze away, improving air quality, but it seems that the smoke will return Sunday evening into Monday (over Labor Day weekend). KIRO 7’s Morgan Palmer reports that air quality is expected to take a dive with the next round of smoke.
That’s what briefly happened this week when the air quality index tracked quality going from good to moderate within hours. Check the air quality index over the weekend to see how the haze affects Western Washington’s air.
