Western Washington is about to get hammered by a winter storm.
The National Weather Service has issued multiple warnings and advisories for much of the coast, mountain ranges, and Puget Sound region Wednesday night into Thursday.
People in Seattle and south down to Toledo can expect heavy rain on Thursday, according to the Weather Service.
“Heavy rain on Thursday will cause rapid rises on area rivers. The Skokomish River in Mason County and the White River … in King County are the most likely rivers to reach flood stage. The heaviest precipitation is likely to fall in the mountains and areas south of Seattle.”
Additionally, the Weather Service says Thursday looks “wet & blustery.” Sustained winds could reach up to 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. A High Wind Warning was issued for areas of the coast, where sustained winds could be 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph.
A Winter Weather Advisory was issued for the Olympics, where snow accumulations of up to 12 inches is possible.
A Storm Warning was issued for much of the Cascades, with 10 to 20 inches possible in some areas.
