One man is dead after a standoff and house fire in West Seattle, according to the King County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say an explosive device was discovered inside the home. They urge onlookers to stay out of the area.

KIRO 7 reports deputies served an eviction notice and the SWAT team was later called to the scene. Neighbors reported hearing gun shots inside the house, located at 42nd Ave. S and S. Findlay St., just a couple blocks away from Fairmont Park.

The fire caused a brief power outage affecting 1,500 customers.
