Eastside commuters have certainly had their fair share of closures during the massive I-405 widening project over the past few years.
This week, it’s road surface maintenance work that brings lane and ramp closures overnight between Kirkland and Totem Lake.
The following closures are planned from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next morning unless noted.
Wednesday night
On Wednesday night, three lanes of northbound I-405 between Northeast 12th Street and Northeast 70th Place will be closed. Two lanes of northbound I-405 between Northeast 112th and 140th Streets will also be closed.
From 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Thursday morning, the eastbound and westbound SR 520 on-ramps to northbound I-405 will be closed.
The northbound I-405 off-ramp to Northeast 124th Street will be closed.
Thursday night
On Thursday night, three lanes of northbound I-405 between Northeast 100th and 145th Streets will be closed.
The Northeast 128th Street express lane on-ramp to northbound I-405 will also be closed, along with the northbound I-405 express lane off-ramp to Northeast 128th Street.
During these closures, crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) will perform crack sealing and other repairs to sections of pavement.
These roadway improvements extend the life of the roadway and improve the driving surface. Drivers should plan on delays during these work hours.
WSDOT will have posted detours to direct commuters around ramp closures each night.
