Express toll lane between Sumner and Pacific goes active Monday

The express toll lane on northbound SR 167 between Sumner and Pacific goes active Monday, several months after the rest of the corridor went live.
The new tolling system between Sumner and Renton was supposed to go live in October, but the state postponed tolling on the initial six-mile section to Pacific because of the bridge strike damage to an overpass reduced the lanes of traffic.
WSDOT didn’t think it was right to toll drivers on a section of road that was down just one lane during repairs.
Now that the overpass has been fixed, that section of the express toll lane can join.
The new toll lane allows solo drivers to pay to enter, with the hope of a faster trip.
