The Washington State Ferry system is replacing the aging and seismically vulnerable components of Colman Dock in downtown Seattle. While making the terminal stronger in the event of an earthquake is important, ferry riders tell me they are excited about the potential for more walkable retail at the terminal.
A rendering of how the new Colman Dock terminal will look has just be released, and if you don’t like the Jetsons vibe, officials point out, “design work continues as the state nears the start of construction.”

You have a few different options to let your voice be heard about this project.
1. The online open house is ready now so you can view the latest design images, learn about plans for construction and provide your feedback.
2. Talk to officials in person. You can go to one of the many public meetings they have scheduled. Tuesday, April 19, a meeting will be held aboard the 4:40 p.m. ferry sailing from Seattle to Bainbridge Island. Wednesday, April 20, there will be another meeting inside the main terminal building at Colman Dock from 3:30-6:30 p.m.
