I-90 drivers get harsh reminder of black ice

Dec 6, 2017, 9:39 AM | Updated: 10:08 am

Ice is believed to have caused multiple crashes in the same location on I-90 Wednesday morning.

According to Trooper Rick Johnson, at least three vehicles careened off the road at milepost 20 on Westbound I-90.

“All vehicles left [the] roadway in [the] same location, striking one another and several trees,” Johnson tweeted.

One driver was sent to the hospital with a possible spinal injury.

Emergency crews de-iced the road in the area.

The crashes forced law enforcement to shut down the left lane of I-90 for hours, causing long traffic backups.
