Flooding across Washington has resulted in several road closures, with the potential for more as conditions develop.

As of 4 p.m., Monday, US 2 has partly reopened, West Valley Highway remains closed, and the Hood Canal Bridge has reopened.

US 2 – Index

Both directions of US 2 have reopened one lane at Index-Galena Road, milepost 35, after trees and debris across the highway. This is in addition to our extended closure between Skykomish and Leavenworth, which has been closed since Wednesday.

There is no estimated time for either of these closures to be fully reopened.

Flash Flood Alert – Kent, Auburn

A flash flood alert issued early Monday afternoon called for an evacuation in parts of Renton, Tukwila, and Kent situated around the Green River.

This evacuation sent drivers packing every major route in the area. In addition to this, State Route 167 (SR 167) remained blocked in both directions between S. 212th and 15th Street N.W.

Early afternoon, officials closed the West Valley Highway between SR 516 and 37th Street N.W., near Emerald Downs.

Hood Canal Bridge

Due to high winds, the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) had closed the Hood Canal Bridge to vehicle traffic at 12:30 p.m. However, it reopened around 4 p.m.

This cuts off access to the Kingston ferry terminal. An alternate route was the Port Townsend/Coupeville ferry.
