University Bridge closed for three weekends

You won’t be able to use the University Bridge in Seattle this weekend or the following two weekends.
The bridge will be closed for a re-paving project that began in March. This is part of the Roosevelt Way NE Paving and Safety Project between NE 65th Street and the bridge.
Current projects that could slow your drive
Workers will grind off the old asphalt this weekend. They will work on expansion joint repair the following weekend. Workers will wrap up with paving on the final weekend.
That final days of the project could be interesting because it’s Seafair weekend that comes with I-90 closures for the Blue Angels. Project manager Eric Tweit knows congestion that weekend could be a little dicey.
“We were concerned about that as well,” he said. “We ended up on that weekend primarily because if you look through the busy summer in the University District there’s always something going on.”
He said that weekend was the “lesser of the evils,” in terms of closures.
The cones will go up around 8 p.m. Friday night and not come down until 5 a.m. Monday morning.
