Plan ahead: Events will slow Seattle area traffic this weekend

Take the following information into consideration before driving in Seattle area traffic this weekend.

Highway 520 between Seattle and Bellevue
First, Highway 520 will be closed in both directions between Seattle and Bellevue. This will have major impacts on Seattle area traffic throughout connecting routes.
The 520 bridge will close late Friday evening at 11 p.m. The closure will last until 5 a.m. Monday morning for final removal of old westbound off-ramp. When Highway 520 has been closed in the past, we have seen traffic heavily increase on I-90, I-5 and I-405.
Boat Show
In Seattle, we also have about 50,000 people expected to attend the Seattle Boat Show over the weekend at CenturyLink Field. And those 50,000 people will be driving into SoDo. That can create quite a bottleneck.
Mariners
Mariner’s FanFest will be happening Saturday and Sunday at Safeco Field — also in SoDo.
New Year party
On Sunday, the Lunar New Year Celebration will close down streets in Seattle’s International District. South King Street will close near Sixth and Seventh Avenues.
