Suspect with $5K assault warrant arrested in Chinatown, armed with ‘dangerous weapon’

A 52-year-old man with an assault warrant and a knife was arrested in the Chinatown-International District Thursday morning.
At approximately 1:20 a.m., Seattle Police Department (SPD) officers located the suspect in the 600 block of 5th Avenue, SPD announced.
The suspect was “concealing what appeared to be a fixed blade knife in a self-made sheath on his hip,” according to the police report.

As the suspect was walking away, he was attempting to conceal the weapon.
Officers detained the man for questioning and revealed that he had a $5,000 warrant for assault.
The suspect was arrested for the warrant and furtively carrying a dangerous weapon.
SPD booked the suspect into the King County Jail.
General Investigations Unit detectives have been assigned to the case.
