An elementary school and high school in Darrington were evacuated Tuesday afternoon after the school district received a phone call about a bomb threat.

Both Darrington High School and Darrington Elementary were evacuated as a precaution due to the bomb threat, the Darrington School District announced.

Local law enforcement noted that the person who made the bomb threat had used an automated voice when speaking with the school district’s administrative office.

Following the incident, the school district provided a statement on its website, which read:

“The safety and well-being of your child is our top priority. We are actively responding to the situation and collaborating with emergency responders. The threat is expected to be resolved with students returning to class as soon as First Responders have given permission to return to class,” the Darrington School District stated.

Law enforcement said that all students and staff are safe and accounted for. A Washington State Patrol bomb technician also responded to assess each school.
