A 32-year-old man from Kent was indicted for producing and possessing child sex abuse material.

Mordien Thach was arraigned on a seven-count indictment Monday, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Washington.

Thach pleaded not guilty to three counts of production of child pornography, attempted enticement of a minor, possession of child pornography, possession of controlled substances with intent to distribute, and unlawful possession of firearms.

He was identified by law enforcement after he allegedly tried to entice a young girl to send him sexually explicit images.

What investigators found inside Kent home

In August 2025, the FBI in Wisconsin was contacted by a young teen who told them an adult had sent and requested sexually explicit images, according to records filed in the case. The adult was identified as Thach.

Law enforcement obtained a search warrant for Thach’s home in late January. Authorities seized “dealer quantities of cocaine” and ketamine, along with several firearms — two of which were reported stolen, the attorney’s office stated.

On Thach’s electronic devices were images of child sexual abuse reportedly created by Thach with young teens he met online, according to law enforcement. Two of the teens live in western Washington, while the third lives in North Dakota.

The attorney’s office stated that Thach remains detained at the Federal Detention Center in SeaTac.

Authorities noted production of child pornography is punishable by a mandatory minimum of 15 years in prison and up to 30 years in prison. Attempted enticement of a minor is punishable by a mandatory minimum of 10 years in prison and up to life in prison. Possession of child pornography is punishable by up to 20 years in prison.

Meanwhile, possession of controlled substances with the intent to distribute is punishable by up to 20 years in prison, and unlawful possession of firearms is punishable by up to 15 years in prison.

Case tied to nationwide crackdown

First Assistant U.S. Attorney Neil Floyd stated that the case is part of the Iron Pursuit, a one-month nationwide enforcement surge to find child victims of sex abuse and arrest child sex predators. In April, more than 200 child victims were located, and more than 350 suspected child sex abuse offenders were arrested, according to Floyd.

“If you abuse children, we will find you,” Floyd stated.

Authorities urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspected child exploitation through the FBI’s tipline at 1-800-CALL-FBI (225-5324), tips.fbi.gov, or by calling their local FBI field office.

Thach’s trial is set for July 6.
