Officer injured, suspect shot multiple times in Seattle officer-involved shooting; stray bullet hits school

Multiple Seattle police officers were involved in a shooting with a suspect in Ballard Thursday evening after responding to a domestic violence disturbance.
The Seattle Police Department (SPD) officers were initially called to N.W. 62nd Street in Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood at approximately 5:40 p.m. Thursday after receiving reports that someone was following a woman. It’s unclear what the relationship between the suspect and the woman is, as of this reporting, but SPD confirmed the two people knew each other.
When officers approached the suspect, a “confrontation” took place. The officers and the suspect exchanged gunfire, with the officers firing multiple gunshots. The suspect was hit several times, according to SPD, and was transported to Harborview Medical Center. The suspect is currently in critical condition.
Seattle police are investigating an officer-involved shooting near Northwest 62nd Street and 28th Avenue Northwest. More information to follow.

Amidst the chaotic gunfire, a Seattle police officer suffered an injury after a bullet grazed their leg. The officer was also transported to Harborview Medical Center.
According to KIRO 7, a stray bullet hit a window of the teacher’s lounge of Adams Elementary School, a school near the scene of the shooting. No one inside the building was injured, and the school will operate as normal on Friday.
