One person died, and another was injured in a homicide that happened in Covington at 7 a.m. Friday, the King County Sheriff’s Office confirmed.

The sheriff’s office is actively investigating the homicide, which occurred near S.E. 259th Street and 186th Place S.E. One person died at the scene, while another was injured and taken to a nearby hospital.

“Major crimes is on scene. They just started their investigation,” Brandyn Hull, the communications manager for King County Sheriff’s Office, told KIRO Newsradio. “We don’t know a lot at this time. They’re working to figure out what happened.”

No one is in custody, as of this reporting.

“Saw three kids get taken out of the house and taken over to the neighbor’s house,” Steve, a neighbor, told KIRO Newsradio. “So that’s where they are right now. They were young, maybe one to five years old.”
