Pierce County authorities seek public’s help in gathering more evidence of shooting near school

The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in gathering more evidence of a shooting near Ford Middle School in the Midland area.
Law enforcement is currently looking for two suspects — a man and a woman — believed to be armed, who allegedly shot a homeowner around 10 a.m. on 104th Street East, Pierce County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Carly Cappetto told KIRO Newsradio.
The homeowner and the suspects, who were in a car, reportedly got into a gunfight in the street. The homeowner sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
“We have multiple witnesses and people that live in the area reporting that multiple people were in the middle of the road actively firing at each other,” Cappetto said.
The suspects fled on foot, but the car remained at the scene with broken windows and bullet holes.
“We do not know where the suspects are at this time, and that is concerning, because we have essentially two allegedly armed and dangerous suspects out on the loose right now,” Cappetto said.
The sheriff’s office is asking for any surveillance video or information that could be relevant to the investigation. To submit evidence, go here.
Deputies are still working to figure out if the shooting was targeted and what events led up to it.
104th Street East is closed between 12th Avenue East and Golden Given while authorities investigate.
Pierce County schools go into lockdown after shooting
Three schools in Pierce County were placed into lockdown after the shooting.

Ford Middle School was put in lockdown due to local police activity, while Midland Elementary School and Franklin Pierce High School were put into modified lockdowns due to close proximity, Franklin Pierce Schools stated on Facebook.
Ford Middle School and Franklin Pierce High School students were directed by law enforcement to stay on campus for approximately an hour beyond their school day.
Franklin Pierce School District’s transportation department transported middle and high school students home, school officials stated. As a result of shared bus routes, elementary buses were expected to be between 45 minutes to an hour late.
Franklin Pierce Schools noted that all staff and students remained safe.
