Renton police need your help to find man suspected in rape of 12-year-old girl

The Renton Police Department (RPD) is asking for the public’s help to identify a suspect connected to the rape of a 12-year-old girl in December 2023.
Investigators said DNA from that case matches DNA from a 2009 home-invasion robbery in Seattle. In that earlier case, the victim worked with an artist to create a composite sketch of the suspect.

Description of suspect
He was described as Hispanic, about 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a medium build, dark hair, facial hair or stubble, and a scar on the side of his mouth. At the time, he was believed to be about 30 years old.
“His appearance may have changed — his hairstyle, facial hair, or presence of wrinkles or glasses may be different,” RPD stated in a Facebook post.
According to the 2009 victim, the man spoke both Spanish and English.
Both victims were Hispanic, police said.
“Detectives believe there are strong similarities between the two cases and are concerned there may be additional victims who have not yet come forward,” law enforcement stated. “They also believe it is unlikely the suspect stopped offending for the past 15 years.”
