Two men were arrested in Downtown Seattle on Friday night for an armed robbery at their own apartment building.

At approximately 6:30 p.m., Seattle Police Department (SPD) officers responded to the 100 block of S. Stewart Street, where victims told officers that three suspects armed with knives and firearms forced their way into an apartment, SPD announced.

The suspects pistol-whipped a victim in the face and stole electronics from the apartment.

Armed robbery suspects lived inside the targeted apartment building

Officers later learned that two of the suspects resided within the apartment building. A security perimeter was established around the building, and SPD began to search for the suspects.

During the search, a knife was found hidden in the east stairwell and was believed to have been used in the robbery. The knife was recovered as evidence.

Surveillance camera footage from the building assisted officers in tracking down two of the suspects to their apartments.

SPD officers arrested a 24-year-old suspect in the lobby of the building without incident.

The second suspect refused to exit his apartment, which prompted SPD negotiators and SWAT to respond to the scene.

An hours-long standoff ensued while officers applied for a search warrant, and a judge approved it.

The 26-year-old suspect eventually exited his apartment and was arrested by SWAT at approximately 11:00 p.m.

The second suspect’s apartment was searched, and officers recovered a replica firearm with an extended magazine.

Both suspects were later booked into the King County Jail for robbery.

SPD noted the third suspect has not been found, and his whereabouts remain unknown.

The investigation remains open and has been assigned to the Robbery Unit.
