Drunk 20-year-old arrested for tagging bridge in South Seattle

Seattle police arrested a 20-year-old man early Thursday after an officer spotted him tagging a bridge in South Seattle. The man was drunk, police said.

Police said the officer saw the man vandalizing the lower West Marginal Way South bridge near Seventh Avenue S. and S. Cloverdale Street around 1 a.m., the Seattle Police Department (SPD) announced.

The suspect tried to run, but the officer chased him down and took him into custody.

SPD officers find bottle of Fireball, knife on suspect after chase

According to the police report, the man had light blue paint on his hands and showed signs of intoxication, including difficulty maintaining his balance.

Officers also found a bottle of Fireball liquor and a knife on him.

Police said the man is known to them and has a history of violent offenses.

Officers booked the suspect into King County Jail for property destruction, obstructing a public officer, and minor in possession of alcohol.
