A Seattle man was shot in the face while attempting to stop a car prowler. The victim is in stable condition, as of this reporting.

The Seattle Police Department (SPD) responded to a report of a man with a gunshot wound to his face and head in the 2200 block of 1st Avenue in Sodo, according to SPD Blotter.

The victim was treated at the scene of the crime and later transferred by the Seattle Fire Department (SFD) to Harborview Medical Center and listed in serious, but stable condition, according to SPD.

Ongoing investigation

SPD determined in their investigation that the victim attempted to disrupt a man from breaking into his vehicle, and the suspect shot him in the face, SPD Detective Eric Muñoz said.

“Police determined that the victim interrupted a man breaking into his vehicle, and during the altercation, the suspect shot him in the face,” Muñoz said, “The suspect and his accomplice, believed to be two men in their 20s-30s, fled the area in a vehicle before police arrived and were not located.”

Detectives with the Gun Violence Reduction Unit have taken control of the investigation into the circumstances preceding the break-in and shooting, the SPD stated.
