The Seattle Police Department (SPD) said the details surrounding a reported drive-by shooting in Seattle’s Sand Point neighborhood aren’t adding up.

Just after 3 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to a shooting on N.E. 65th Street, a block west of Warren Magnuson Park. When they arrived, they found a man shot in the leg and possibly the ankle. He also had an injured hand.

The 38-year-old victim told investigators he had been hit by gunfire from a drive-by shooting, but, according to SPD, he provided very few details.

Medics with the Seattle Fire Department (SFD) arrived and treated the man for his non-life-threatening injuries. SFD’s Medic One unit transported the victim to Harborview Medical Center.

Later, SPD reported that the man failed to give them any detailed information about what had taken place. The department noted that their investigation into the incident contradicted his story.

It’s unclear exactly what police turned up in their probe into the circumstances of the shooting, but SPD detectives believe the man was shot inside his own residence.

Officers reported that no shell casings were recovered, and they did not find a gun.

The investigation is still active. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the SPD Violent Crimes Tip Line at 206-233-5000.
