A shooting involving Issaquah police officers is officially under investigation.

Offices were sent to an apartment complex on Front Street at 4 p.m. Thursday after a mental health crisis was reported. When they arrived, a physical struggle broke out between the individual and the officers.

“During the altercation, the suspect was shot once in the leg,” the Independent Force Investigation Team of King County Officers stated. “Officers provided first aid at the scene, and the individual was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.”

The person is expected to survive his injuries, according to the Issaquah Police Department.

The Independent Force Investigation Team of King County Officers has been tasked to conduct an independent investigation to determine if use of force was used in the altercation. The team is reviewing body camera footage and gathering evidence.

“As this is an ongoing investigation, limited additional information can be provided at this time,” the Independent Force Investigation Team of King County Officers said. “Investigators are collecting evidence, interviewing witnesses, and reviewing officer body-worn camera footage, which captured the event.”
