Man killed in head-on crash after alleged hit-and-run in Snohomish County

A man was killed in a head-on crash after he allegedly fled a hit-and-run in Snohomish County.

South County deputies responded to a reported multi-vehicle crash near the intersection of Broadway Avenue and Yew Way around 10:40 p.m. Monday, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.

When deputies arrived, they found a 55-year-old man dead at the scene.

The Collision Investigation Unit responded and determined the 55-year-old driver allegedly struck a Ford Mustang near 180th Street SE, just west of Broadway Avenue.

The Mustang driver said the suspect did not stop after the collision and kept driving southbound on Broadway Avenue.

He allegedly continued speeding southbound before crossing into the oncoming lane near Yew Way and colliding head-on with a Toyota Camry, just south of the train tracks.

Camry driver suffers minor injuries in fatal Snohomish County crash

The sheriff’s office said the driver of the Camry appeared to suffer minor injuries but declined to be taken to a hospital.

No other serious injuries were reported.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.

The Snohomish County Medical Examiner will positively identify the deceased and determine the cause and manner of death.
