The Kent Police Department is investigating three deaths that occurred in two separate incidents Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.

Fatal stabbing outside bar

One person was stabbed to death near a bar in Kent Tuesday night. According to the Kent Police Department, the stabbing happened at approximately 12 a.m.

The stabbing happened near the Meeker Street Bar and Grill after the victim left a convenience store.

“The victim was a regular customer at the convenience store, and he interacted with some people there,” Kent Police Chief Rafael Padilla told KIRO Newsradio. “At some point after he left the store, there was a confrontation that our detectives are trying to figure out, and he was fatally stabbed.”

The victim died at the scene, according to police.

“One of the detectives who was on scene here did confirm that one person was stabbed to death here on Meeker Street,” KIRO 7 reported. “That happened around midnight. They are still trying to figure out what exactly happened here, so it is still an active investigation.”

No suspects are in custody, as of this reporting.

Two men shot, killed just hours prior

Two men were killed in a shooting at a Kent home during a party, according to the Kent Police Department.

“At some point during the party, two males were shot at that location, and tragically, neither of the two survived,” Padilla said.

The shooting happened at approximately 10 p.m. Tuesday, just two hours before a fatal stabbing took place in Kent. The shooting was roughly six miles away from the scene of the fatal stabbing.

The police department stated that the two incidents are not believed to be connected. Padilla said police are working to gather more details.

“We are going to work relentlessly to identify who was involved and bring them to justice,” he said. “There may be people who have information that could assist us with this. So, we are definitely seeking tips from the community.”
