Seattle police arrested a man accused of firing a gun at a food delivery driver, after he held them at bay during an eight-hour, armed standoff.

Police say the gunfire did not hit the delivery driver, but did damage his vehicle.

Officers responded to the shooting just a few minutes before midnight Saturday evening.

The shots were fired in the Yesler Terrace neighborhood, on 8th Ave. near E. Fir St.

The suspect took off.

Police say he traveled about four blocks, then went inside an apartment building on South Jackson near 10th Ave. S., just east of I-5.

That’s where they say he held off officers in a standoff that lasted eight hours.

Officers soon discovered the suspect’s location and set up a safety perimeter around the building.

Seattle police called out two separate SWAT teams, one from its own department and another from the Bellevue Police Department.

They also deployed a K-9 unit and a Hostage Negotiating Team.

Police also were able to contact a judge and obtain a search warrant to enter the building.

Eventually, officers arrested a 41-year-old man believed to be the shooting suspect.

Officers also took into custody a 34-year-old woman.

They say she had warrants out for her arrest on charges of forgery and organized retail theft.

Police say they found two guns in the apartment believed to have been used in the shooting.

Officers booked both suspects into the King County Jail.

Detectives in the Seattle Police Department’s Gun Violence Reduction Unit are working to gather evidence from the shooting scene and the standoff location.
