Prosecutors list dog as alleged deadly weapon in Tacoma assault

Prosecutors listed a dog as an alleged deadly weapon after its owner was charged in a Tacoma assault.

Chad Kaaihue was charged Thursday after he allegedly hit a person in the mouth with a wrench, and his two pit bulls reportedly bit customers outside a gas station, according to KING 5, citing Pierce County court documents.

Police were sent to Speed E Mart on South 19th Street on Wednesday after callers reported pit bulls biting people and not letting people leave the area, the media outlet reported. A person told officers he was bitten by Kaaihue’s dog and hit in the back of the head. The officers saw bite marks on the person’s arm.

Another person, according to KING 5, had bite marks on his hands and said Kaaihue threw a metal object at him, knocking out his tooth. The person handed officers a wrench with a rubber slingshot.

Surveillance video captured the dogs biting people outside the store. The video also showed Kaaihue throw an object at a person, KING 5 reported, citing police.

Kaaihue left the store and was later arrested by police. Officers stated that Kaaihue resisted arrest and told officers his name was “yo mama.com,” according to the media outlet.

In court, prosecutors listed one of the pit bulls as a deadly weapon, along with the wrench.

Kaaihue’s charges include two counts of second-degree assault, second-degree animal cruelty, fourth-degree assault, resisting arrest, and obstructing a law enforcement officer.
