Dave Ross Commentary – Listen: A-Blog-A-Lypse over comedian Reggie Brown’s Obama impression
There was an internet A-Blog-A-Lypse over the weekend over comedian Reggie Brown’s appearance at the Republican Leadership Conference in New Orleans…
Reggie a born Obama impersonator:
“You know, my mother’s white, my father’s black,” said Brown.
…and he got up in front of the Republican crowd and told jokes like THIS:
“The family and I took a nice relaxing vacation in the state of my birth, Hawaii, or as the tea partiers still call it, Kenya.”
It was his standard act, and as he told CNN, he didn’t think twice when his mike went dead 18 minutes into the routine — he thought he’d just run over his time:
“That’s what they told me, and then I get back to the hotel room and I see all these articles saying that I was yanked.”
Yanked for telling racially tinged jokes, the bloggers said:
“My favorite month is black history month. You see, Michelle, she celebrates the full month, and I celebrate half,” was one joke.
But he got through the black jokes just fine: it was the Mitt Romney Polygamy joke, and the Tim Pawlenty joke where the crowd turned:
“Tim Pawlenty couldn’t make it here, but cut him some slack. He’s having his foot surgically removed from his mouth.”
And he was about to do the Michelle Bachmann joke, the mike went out and a nice fellow escorted him stage right.
So I don’t think it was the racial jokes because if so, this guy, who appeared at the White House correspondents dinner would have been in big trouble.
“Tonight for the first time I am releasing my official birth video,” said Obama.
